How Lippold reinvented its online shop
Lippold has been active in the field of drive and sealing technology as well as hydraulics and pneumatics for over 90 years. With their online shop Flixpart, they simplify the procurement of spare parts and make an important contribution to companies in the industrial technology sector.

The challenge
When employees left the company, the existing online shop was in danger of going offline. Without access to the original code and data, we were faced with the challenge of rebuilding the shop and migrating the existing data in the process.
The solution
byte5 developed the shop from scratch, analysed the existing site and implemented both the backend and frontend so that a functional shop was quickly created - with as little disruption to customers as possible.
Technical realisation:
It is often the case that customers do not have access to the code of an existing system and therefore need an alternative; or that a system is so outdated that it only makes sense to move to a more modern solution including new code. In these cases, the first step is a detailed analysis and inventory of all elements. We also did this with Lippold. We then developed our own data migrator, which helped to transfer the retrievable data from the old system to the new one. In addition to Medusa JS for the e-commerce elements, we used Strapi as the content management system and Stripe for payment processing.

It was essential for Flixpart to ensure continued operation in the shortest possible time. Medusa JS has the perfect prerequisites for this and we look forward to further development steps with Lippold and Flixpart.
